Today, I walked into a random dentist office in Bangkok, without an appointment or health insurance, paid $18 USD (600 Baht) and immediately saw a fantastic dentist, who gave me a deep teeth cleaning for an hour. Completely spotless.
วันนี้, ผมเดินเข้าไปคลินิกหมอฟันแห่งหนึ่งในกรุงเทพฯ, โดยไม่มีการนัดหมายหรือมีประกันสุขภาพ, จ่ายเงิน $18 (600 บาท) และก็ได้พบกับทันตแพทย์ที่ยอดเยี่ยมทันที, ซึ่งทันตแพทย์ได้ทำการขูดหินปูนให้เหงือกของผมเป็นเวลา 1 ชม. อย่างสมบูรณ์ไร้ที่ติ

Back home, if I want to see a dentist for the same general teeth cleaning, I must make an appointment 3 months in advance AND pay 6X the price that I just paid in Thailand. For the exact same teeth cleaning!

The topic of this video goes beyond dental work — it’s health care in general. Thailand has one of the best overall health care systems in Asia (highly skilled doctors, incredibly modern hospital facilities, technologies, etc) — and it’s very cheap. Especially if you need to get any medications (prescription or over-the-counter), it’s maybe 10X cheaper than back home.

I think my teeth cleaning in the Philippines was around 300 pesos ($6) and when i got fillings for my cavities they were only like around 250 pesos ($5) in total for multiple teeth.

Thailand and Malaysia have very efficient and affordable healthcare, that I have to say… In fact, we in Malaysia are focusing on medical tourism these past few years and for instance, wealthy Medan folk now like to go to Malacca for their medical treatment and stuff!
As for Singapore, the city-state is known for some of the region’s best hospitals (including Mount Elizabeth, Raffles, and Gleneagles) even if prices are on the high side at times…

A full ceramic non metallic zirconium crown will set you back 15000 THB ie 400USD.
It is 3x more expensive in Australia.
